Kent has completed undergraduate qualifications in engineering and accounting as well as an MBA. Additionally, he is currently completing a PhD through Deakin University that focuses on the accounting profession in China.
Complementing his university qualifications, Kent holds professional memberships of both CA (Australia & NZ) and CPA (Australia).
Kent brings over 30 years of his working experience to the classroom. His professionalism has been honed across a broad range of industries and includes exposure to: supply chain management, contract administration, profit and loss responsibilities, management reporting, banking and finance, business development, corporate training, small business ownership as well as acting as a company director. This blend of experience gives him an outstanding ability to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds as well as providing a degree of “real world” grounding to the courses he presents.
Having gained his professional experience in Australia, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia as well as Singapore, Kent brings an ability to work with and bring the best out of cross cultural teams.
Kent has been passionately and enthusiastically lecturing since 2004 in both private and public institutions. Over this time he has won a number of teaching awards based on his ability to engage students coupled with his skill of explaining challenging concepts across different delivery modes. His teaching philosophy centres on student engagement, experiential learning as well fostering an optimal learning environment.
Whilst Kent can competently present across a breadth of accounting topics (including financial, management and theory), he has particular interests in: business strategy & leadership, global accounting issues and corporate governance.
