Written by: Joeylyn Lee

With the new status upgrades and renewals, SAA-GE is happy to announce that we have more programmes to offer, providing more pathways for our students to pursue further studies and prospective students to enter the World of Accountancy with ease and confidence.

i)  ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB)

First Intake: May 2017

The ICAEW CFAB qualification is an internationally recognized certificate that teaches essential knowledge in business, finance and accounting.

ICAEW CFAB contains the same syllabus content as the first six modules of the world-leading chartered accountancy qualification, the ACA. You can study ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business as a stand-alone qualification or as a possible stepping-stone to the ACA qualification.

This programme is for:

  • Students who are looking to increase their business skills, or
  • Students who are considering a career in business or want to start their own company, or
  • Suitable for all school leavers, college or university students and career-changers.

ii)  ISCA Accredited Accounting Technician (ISCA-AAT)
First Intake: July 2017

ISCA has collaborated with AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) to provide the flexible skills-based ISCA-AAT qualification. This partnership supports the government’s SkillsFuture initiative, offering aspiring accounting technicians from various background opportunities to equip themselves with relevant skill sets to meet the demand for competent accounting and finance staff to support senior levels of the profession.

ISCA-AAT is suitable for students to achieve a professional qualification with real world accounting knowledge. It helps students to build solid accounting knowledge and practical skills that they can apply directly at work.

iii)  CIMA Management Case Study (MCS)
First Intake: July 2017

The CIMA Professional Qualification comprises three pillars of domain knowledge divided into three levels of achievement.  The pillars are enterprise (E), performance (P) and financial (F).  The levels are operational, management and strategic. Three case study exams will be used for each level of the CIMA syllabus to integrate knowledge across the three pillars.

The focus of Management level is on the medium term and monitoring and implementation of strategy.  The Case Study exam is essentially a virtual business role-play. Therefore, students need to understand their role within the case study exam in order to produce a good answer, demonstrating knowledge and applying skills from across the syllabus.

ACCA Graduates and Affiliates are also eligible to take up this programme through the Gateway Programmes or Special Pathway Programmes, subject to CIMA’s approval.
