Wei Hwa obtained his Master of Law in International Taxation from Leiden University (International Tax Center) in the Netherlands. He had earlier obtained his Bachelor of Accountancy with First Class Honours from Nanyang Technological University (Nanyang business School).
In terms of professional qualifications, Wei Hwa is a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) and an Accredited Tax Advisor (Income Tax) with the Singapore Institute of Accredited Tax Practitioners (SIATP).
Wei Hwa is a Senior Tax Manager at a Tier 1 tax consulting firm in Singapore. He is the lead tax engagement manager on a number of key accounts, and has primarily been involved in domestic and cross-border tax projects for multinational corporations. His tax advisory and compliance experience has spanned almost a decade.
Wei Hwa has extensive experience in advising clients on all major aspects of Singapore income tax, goods and service tax, stamp duty and property tax. He had successfully assisted clients in their applications for the tax incentives and rulings, and also managed tax audits and resolved disputes with the tax authority.
As Senior Tax Manager in the International Tax department, Wei Hwa works closely with other tax advisors from Asia Pacific, Europe and North America, and has a working understanding of the corporate tax regimes in most Asia Pacific tax jurisdictions.
Wei Hwa’s tax experience spans a wide range of specialised industries, including automotive, financial services, fund management, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, real estates, and telecommunications.
Wei Hwa has written and published various articles and books pertaining to domestic and international taxation, covering topics such income tax, stamp duty, property tax, tax treaty, base erosion and profit shifting.
Wei Hwa is passionate about sharing his experience in matters relating to taxation. He will be teaching the Singapore CA Qualification (Foundation) Module on Singapore Taxation.
