Tang Sheng Lin Catherine
Catherine graduated with a Master degree of Business Administration from the National University of Singapore. Before that, she was a dean-lister in her bachelor’s degree in Marketing, taken with Curtin University of Technology. To enhance teaching pedagogy and trainer expertise, she took up the Diploma in Adult and Continuing Education with the Institute of Adult Learning and graduated with outstanding results in 2012.
Her corporate career was carved out in the medical devices industry. An accumulated experience spanning more than 20 years, she was in the cut and thrust of managing regional business for MNC’s Asia HQ in the burgeoning Asia-Pacific biomedical market-place since the early nineties. She has been associated with renowned medical device companies like Ohmeda (now a General Electric Brand), Draeger Medical, Medtronic International and Boston Scientific. The various management roles she held ranged from an expatriate role as Country Manager to establish organisation footprint in Malaysia and Brunei to General Manager for S.E Asia Sales HQ and in 2013, Asia-Pacific Business Development Director.
In higher learning, she had tutored at Singapore Polytechnic’s School of Business and has been an associate lecturer with SIM group for the past five years. Catherine currently teaches an elective module for SIM University School of Business -Customer Relationship Management, a strategic approach. For SIM GE, she teaches Principles of Marketing for the diploma in management studies (both part-time working adults and lately full-time students).
In the area of adult education, Catherine had practiced in the CET (Continuing Education and Training) environment. Specifically in the area of customer-centric strategies, she consulted and trained corporate staff to drive service excellence in the systems and processes of client organisations. The industry type ranged from F&B to healthcare-delivery and aviation sectors. In this area she has facilitated workshops in Service Leadership for managers and for hospital professional and medical staff at a Vietnam hospital in HCM City.
